St. George's Day English Whisky Tasting
The Oxford Wine Company
6 Turl Street
Oxford
OX1 3DQ Saturday, 23 April 19:30 £20.00 Presented by Tom Brady
With over thirty distillers now in operation across the country there’s never been a better time to be drinking English whisky. The question now draws upon what happens next. Do we follow the traditions of our cousins up north (as many distilleries are currently doing) and regulate the industry in similar fashion? Or do we free the reigns for English distillers to experiment and forge their own path in what’s very much a frontier category?
We’ll discuss these debates and more while tasting our way through six English whiskies from some of our favourite producers. I cannot wait!

Wines with a story: Ryan Puttick of Franschhoek's The Old Road Wine Co.
The Oxford Wine Company
7 Little Clarendon Street
Oxford
OX1 2HP Wednesday, 18 May 19:30 £20.00 Presented by Ryan Puttick
We’re delighted to welcome Ryan Puttick to our Little Clarendon Street shop this May. Ryan is based in Franschhoek, where he is the winemaker at The Old Road Wine Co.
Known by his friends as the ‘Master Vinous Storyteller’, winemaker Ryan Puttick likes to tell stories both about wine and through the wine itself. He spent his childhood on a farm in the Western Cape and still to this day is only really happy getting his hands dirty and making delicious wine!
At The Old Road Wine Co, Ryan produces a broad range of wines, both from classic varieties and some curveballs. He enjoys the artisanal side of making wine – working with individual batches of premium fruit and moulding them on their journey from vineyard to bottle, with the fullest expression of their origin in mind.
We’ll be tasting six of Ryan’s wines, including an elegant Pinot Noir from Elgin, a world-class Semillon, and a classic South African Pinotage. They are all interesting wines – but more importantly, delicious wines! We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a fantastic event.
