Tannat is considered Uruguay's national grape variety and this wine is a fantastic example.
- Complex aromas of cranberries and blackberries, plus some mushroom savouriness.
- Light oak and a polished texture, married to the meaty, smoky, plumy flavours characteristic of the Tannat variety. Vanilla spice from new barrels makes for a surprisingly complex red wine.
- After pressing, settling, and racking, the wine is moved to French and American oak barrels for ageing and maturation.
- Tannat was introduced to Uruguay by Basque settlers in 1870, soon becoming the national grape. It has adapted perfectly to the local conditions, producing dark, often powerful wines capable of extended ageing and complexity.
- A very faithful ally of the "Asado" (roasted bovine meat cooked on an open wood fire).
