Thomas Stopfer, Ried Mordthal Roter Veltliner, Wagram 2023
£19.75
Interesting and complex native Austrian white
- Beautiful aromas of pear, plum and elderflower, followed by hints of nuts.
- More orchard and stone fruits on the palate, followed by a spicy mineral finish.
- Matured on the fine yeast for 5 months, and with 20% matured in a 500l acacia barrel. This gives the wine a good tannic structure but without having dominant oak characteristics.
- The indigenous Roter Veltliner plays a vital role within the Veltliner Family, and is the parent variety of Neuburger, Zierfandler and Rotgipfler.
- Pair with a traditional schnitzel with potato salad.

I've waited over a year for this to land on the shelves and I haven't been disappointed! Ripe orchard fruits with a spicy, mineral finish. Amazing. - Thom Allinson, OWC
