A powerful wine with elegant tannins and deep fruit, from the renowned Rothschild estate
- This classic Bordeaux blend, displaying a deep ruby hue, initially expresses aromas of raspberry and thyme, which evolve into subtle cinnamon spice and tobacco from the meticulous oak ageing.
- On the palate, intriguing layers of plum, cassis and black cherry are brought together harmoniously by a firm, yet refined, velvety texture.
- Matured for 18 months in 225 L French oak barrels, this wine has an ageing potential of at least ten years from vintage.
- This wine will pair well with beef oxtail slowly braised with crushed black cherry, mixed spice, and topped with herbed bread.

'Its cheaper stablemate is called Classique, but this is a classic Stellenbosch red, too. Merlot takes the lead, with support from the other four Bordeaux varieties, to create a complex, youthful, savoury cuvée with fine-grained tannins and artfully handled oak. One to keep. 95 Points' Tim Atkin
'Swanky Cape merlot topped up with both cabernets; a mulberry, biltong and tobacco-scented star.' - Jane MacQuitty, The Times
