Pouilly Fumé, Petit Fumé, Michel Redde et Fils 2023
£27.50
Fresh and flinty Loire Valley Sauvignon
- Aromatic nose of greengage, flint and grassy notes with a hint of tropical fruits. The palate has breadth and chalky notes, with fine citrus acidity.
- Made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc, this excellent wine is characterised by a note of gunflint and a certain creamy richness in addition to the classic zesty herbaceous flavours of the grape variety.
- The Redde family can trace their roots in Pouilly-Fumé's vinous history back to 1630.
- Perched on the opposite bank of the Loire to Sancerre, the limestone and clay slopes peppered with flint of Pouilly Fume have been home to grape growing and wine production since before the Roman era.
- Great as a partner to fish, seafood, or goat's cheese.

Sébastien Redde is a new grower in Pouilly Fumé. His family's estate, Domaine La Moynerie, make an impressive array of single vineyard cuvées in the Pouilly Fumé appellation, which reach their zenith in 'Marjoram' - only made in the best vintages from 40 year old Sauvignon Blanc vines. Redde et Fils work hard in the vineyard and cellar to showcase the diverse soil types of the appellation including red flint soils, the Portlandian limestone, and the Kimmeridgian marl of Pouilly Fumé on the banks of the River Cher, facing Sancerre.
