The Telegraph-10/02/15:Raspberry gin poised for sales boom as Brits fall for pink gin-The founders of Pinkster expect sales of their gin to quadruple this year.
A new raspberry flavoured gin, released by media executives including the creator of the Peppa Pig franchise, has proved a hit, with sales expected to quadruple this year.
Pinkster was started two years ago by PR executives Stephen Marsh and Will Holt, with backing from advertising director Giles Moffatt and investment banker Sean McCreery.
Richard Bridgwood, founder of Contender Entertainment Group, creator of popular children's programme Peppa Pig, is Pinkster's chairman.
Pinkster's premium gin is made using fresh raspberries at its headquarters near Cambridge. The company sold 8,000 bottles last year and expects that number to rise by up to four times this year.
"I started making Pinkster eight years ago, for my own pleasure and consumption," said co-founder Stephen Marsh, who doesn't drink wine or beer. "I experimented with a few different fruits before settling on fresh raspberries. Friends kept saying I should make it commercially and eventually I decided to go for it."
"We're pushing against an open door. Gin's popularity is only going to increase. It has a much broader taste spectrum than whisky and, dare I say it, wine. There's so much you can do with it," he added.
