An iconic wine from one of the leading estates in California! Bursting with blackcurrant, blueberry, black cherry with slight hints of violet
- The palate is full-bodied, beautifully harmonious and velvety with flavours of cassis, leather, blackberry and raspberry complimented by dark chocolate. A year and a half in barrel contributes coffee, vanilla and spice.
- Founded in 1978, Opus One is the creation of two winemaking pioneers- Philippe Baron de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi. Their aim was to produce a wine adjacent to a first growth Bordeaux, whilst also capturing the essence of Napa Valley.
- Opus One is crafted in Oakville AVA, which produces some of Napa Valley's most complex wines. Grapes are picked from four-estate owned vineyards, including parcels within To Kalon- the most prestigious vineyard in California.
- 2012 was an extraordinary vintage, and is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Merlot and 2% Malbec.
- Drinking beautifully now, but it will continue to improve for another 25 to 30 years.
