Sweet, fruity and malty with a saline edge, the Pulteney Distillery is equipped with, OWC favourite, worm tub condensers to offer a richer, more characterful single malt
- Located in the northernmost reaches of the Scottish Highlands, Old Pulteney is distilled in the historic Caithness fishing port of Wick, offering real provenance to this self-titled Maritime Whisky
- This release from the distillery celebrates a subtle smoky character added during the maturation phase of production. After spending time in 2nd fill ex-Bourbon casks, liquid is further matured barrels which once held peated Scotch whisky
- The nose is immediately rich and warming. Brimming initially with mellow wood smoke, honey and oily leather which blooms later into crisp green apple. Creamy vanilla and a hint of burnt toffee sit in the background
- The palate has freshly gound spices and soft vanilla balance the notes of smoke and peat fire. There are both richly sweet and distinctly salty coastal flavours in the background, reminiscent of salted caramel
- This is a tasty dram and a fantastic alternative for fans of Ledaig, Oban, Ardnamurchan and the like
