Apollonio Salice Salentino Rosso is a beautiful example of the native red blends of Puglia. Apollonio is a fourth-generation family winery specialized in the typical grapes and wines of Puglia, the heel of the Italian boot. This Salice Salentino Rosso is a full-bodied blend of 80% Negroamaro and 20% Malvasia Nera, grown on head-pruned vines. According to Jancis Robinson, Â'the Negroamaro grape (meaning black and bitter) can make seductively heady, ageworthy reds,Â' while Malvasia Nera is soft and velvety smooth.

Apollonio Salice Salentino Rosso is dark ruby in colour with a nose of blackberries, prunes, leather and barnyard notes. Full-bodied with concentrated fruit and smooth texture, it is well balanced to enjoy over the next 6-7 years. Aged for 6 months in small French and Russian oak barrels. The finish is long and velvety.
