Arran Distillery
Situated east of Islay and the Kintyre peninsula (home of Campbeltown), the Isle of Arran has rugged coastlines, soaring hills, rich farmland and dense forests. The Lochranza Distillery opened in 1995 and, in the nearly thirty years since, has developed renowned global fame for their rich, fruity, crowd pleasing style of single malt whisky.
In 2004 the distillery decided to add a peated expression to their range with the, initially one off, release of Machrie Moor. Named after the mystical peat bog on the west of the island, the expression became a yearly single batch release before securing its status as one of Arran's core lines. This development was facilitated in 2019 by the opening of Arran's second distillery near the hamlet of Lagg in the south of the island which will focus exclusively on peated whisky releases.
