Vina Morandé

Website: http://www.morande.cl

Vina Morandé started in 1996 with the goal "to become one of Chile's ten leading wineries" and to be a benchmark of quality in South American winemaking. Within 3 years Pablo Morandé had been voted 'Best Winemaker Of The Year' twice and their wines were already scoring highly in publications such as 'Decanter'. In 2000 Morandé was taken over by the important Chilean business group Empresas Juan Yarur. Since then they have invested heavily in new vineyard sites and improving their already considerable quality wine making facilities and cellars.

Vina Morandé holds vineyards in both the Casablanca and Maipo Valleys. The Belén Estate (Casablanca) provides wonderful cooler climate fruit and it is from ehre that their very top wines originate. The Romeral Estate in Maipo is slightly warmer and gives bigger, richer red wines. The winery is based 122km south of Santiago in Rapel Valley. The state of the art winery can cold 12.2 million litres in stainless stell and a further 800,000 litres in oak barrels.

Vina Morandé have a highly awarded winemaker in Ricardo Baettig and with the huge support from their operating company they have the money to seriously invest in high quality vineyards and wine making technology. Morandé are also moving towards organics and biodynamics but the quality of their fruit and wine making is always at the forefront of what they do.

The Pionero range is incredibly high quality for an entry level wine and their wines from Casablanca are marked as being some of the best in the region.
