Tomintoul
Tomintoul Distillery was build during the 1960's and gets its name from the village Tomintoul which, at 1165 feet, is the highest village in the Scottish Highlands. The Distillery is located on the Glenlivet Estate in the heart of the Speyside and draws its water from the Ballantruan spring.
The success of Tomintoul, as its name suggests, is that it is a very soft approachable dram with a lot of flavour. It is also one of the few distilleries to be Kosher certified.
The range includes 10 Year old, Peaty Tang, 12 year old, 12 year old Portwood cask, 14 year old, 16 year old, 21 year old, 33 year old and 1976 Vintage single malt.
Today the Distillery is capable of producing over three million litres of alcohol each year. It is also capable of storing approximately 116,000 casks on site. To produce this quantity of liquor, Tomintoul has a semi-Lauter mash tun, six steel washbacks and four stills. The spirit is aged in a combination of American Bourbon oak casks, refill sherry hogsheads as well as Oloroso butts.
Tomintoul 12 Year Old Portwood Finish received a Silver medal and Tomintoul 12 Year Old Oloroso Finish received a Silver Outstanding medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition 2013.
