Also known as Ermitage, this grape's best examples can be found around the Rhone, Savoie and Australia. It lacks a bit in the aroma department but it makes up for in weight and structure that adds to the wine. Normally blended with Roussanne and responsible for the white wines of St Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage and for the sparkling of St Peray. Highly recommend trying the Vin de Paille examples and the wines from Tahbilk in the Nagambie Lakes in Australia.
