The Dr Loosen Estate has been on the Mosel River for over 200 years. It would be fair to assume that Ernst would have been keen to take up the family profession. Instead he initially studied archaeology. When his father was ready to hand the estate over in the 1980's Ernst happily took up the reigns and found his true calling amongst the broken slate of his family's vineyards. Ernst studied in Geisenheim and then traveled all over the world to learn the secrets of making great wine. Since taking over in 1988 the Estate and Ernst have won every award and accolade going and continue to go from strength to strength.
The Loosen Estate is based in the heart of the Mosel and includes vineyards in 6 of the very best sites including Graacher Himmelrich, Bernkasteler Lay and Wehlehner Sonnenuhr.
What makes Loosen Estate really unique is Ernst himself. The estate has a long family history and covers some of the very best vineyard dites in Germany but it is Ernst's vision and passion that really drives the estate and her wines. Ernst has won every award going and is considered the best producer of Riesling in the world. His flair for presenting and communicating are also second to none.
There are many wines of importance in this range but the Wehlehner Sonnenuhr Spatlese Riesling is a stunner.
