Known principally for its' red wines from the Montepulciano grape (not to be confused with the place of the same name in Tuscany). Other reds are made from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Abruzzo region also produces white wines from Trebbiano, Falanghina,Malvasia, Moscato, Passerina, Pecorino and Chardonnay.
